ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene)
ABS is an impact resistant, mechanically and thermally resilient, high quality thermoplastic which is ecologically sound. For over 20 years now, this chlorine-free plastic has been successfully used in the furniture industry. It is the outstanding application, processing and disposal characteristics, in particular, of ABS that contribute to its extensive impact on the furniture manufacture market.
PVC (polyvinyl chloride)
PVC is today one of the best known and most common plastics. For more than 40 years edgebands for the furniture industry have also been manufactured from this material and have turned out to be very successful due to their outstanding materials characteristics. In particular, it is the excellent processing characteristics of PVC for specific applications that have contributed to its breakthrough in the furniture manufacturing market.
PP (polypropylene)
PP is a semi-crystalline plastic, primarily used in pipe extrusion and the packaging industry. For about 10 years now, this chlorine-free material has also been used in the furniture industry as an alternative to the proven materials of PVC and ABS. The main advantage of polypropylene is that it is easily disposed of, but it does require optimisation of machine settings in processing.
